Additional notesThe churchyard surrounds the church which is a category A listed building and was built between 1729 and 1732. This octagonal building is the only church designed and built by William Adam. The churchyard contains the Netherton Cross and Covenanting martyrs memorial which is built into the east wall. The Netherton cross is from the 10th or 11th century and was originally found in the grounds of Hamilton palace and was moved to the church in 1926. The churchyard is now closed, however cremated remains may be interred or scattered from time to time. There are inscription records from 1813 available.
